01Getting started
How does a simulation work?
Choose a face model, describe your skin in your own words (typing, or speaking with the microphone) or pick concern chips, then scan a skincare product. Neem reads the product’s label, shows how relevant it is to your concerns, and generates a preview of how the skin of the face model could look on Day 0, 30, 60 and 90.
Do I need to upload a selfie?
No. Neem never asks for a photo of you. Simulations are shown on realistic AI face models. You can change your face model anytime from the menu: Menu → Your face model.
Is this medical advice?
No. Simulations, skin profiles and routines are AI-generated previews and guidance, not a diagnosis or treatment. Real results vary. For a skin condition or a reaction to a product, please see a dermatologist. Before your first simulation, the app asks you to confirm you understand this; you only see it once.
02Scanning a product
Tips for a good scan
- Photograph the front of the product in good light, with the name and brand in focus.
- If Neem asks for it, add a photo of the ingredient list or the back label.
- Photograph the product alone, without people or documents in the frame.
“We couldn’t read this label”
Try a sharper, well-lit photo of the front, add a photo of the ingredient list, or tap Type the name to enter the product yourself.
“This doesn’t look like skincare”
Neem simulates face skincare products, such as cleansers, serums, moisturizers and sunscreens. Scanning something else doesn’t use your free simulation.
03Simulations and history
My simulation didn’t finish
Check your connection and tap Try again. Days that were already generated are kept, and only the missing ones are made again. Your free simulation is only used once a simulation completes.
Can I close the app while it’s preparing?
Yes. The simulation keeps going on our servers. Open Neem again later and pick up where you left off; your finished simulation is also saved in History.
Where are my past simulations?
In the History tab. Every simulation is saved automatically once it’s ready, and you can reopen it anytime. Each card shows the day it was saved, Day 0 next to Day 90, the concerns it was made for and the product used. On a simulation, tap ⓘ to see the product it was made with.
How do I compare two simulations?
With Neem Plus, open a simulation and tap the compare button just under ⓘ, then choose another saved simulation. One made on another face is marked Different face: part of the difference then comes from the face, not only the product. In Overlay, drag the line across the face; in Side by side, the two faces sit next to each other. Slide through Day 0 to Day 90 to move both at once, and tap Compare with another to pick a different one.
What are the detailed insights?
With Neem Plus, tap Detailed insights under a simulation’s timeline summary. For each concern of the skin profile it was made with, you see how much it fades by Day 30, 60 and 90, what on the product’s label that rests on (an ingredient, a claim or only the product type), and how quickly that kind of concern tends to respond. They explain the simulation; they aren’t a prediction or medical advice.
Why are Day 30 and Day 60 locked?
The free simulation includes Day 0 and Day 90. Neem Plus unlocks the full timeline, including for your free simulation.
04Skincare Report (PDF)
How do I get my Skincare Report?
With Neem Plus, open Menu → Skincare Report, or tap Skincare Report at the top right of the History tab. Choose the Complete Skincare Report (all your history) or a Periodic Journey Report for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, then tap Generate PDF Report. You can also ask the Neem AI assistant, for example “Make my skincare report”, and tap Create PDF on the card it shows.
Can I get the report of one simulation?
Yes. In the History tab, tap Download PDF on the simulation’s card. Neem makes a Simulation Report right away, in the same style: that simulation’s days, the skin profile it was made with, the product and what was read from its label, and the product’s routine if you set one up. Then your share sheet opens.
What’s in it?
Your skin profile, the products you scanned and what was read from their labels, your current routine and reminders, a timeline of your activity, your saved simulations with their images, and a summary of your activity. It’s in the app’s language: English, French or Arabic.
How do I save or send it?
When the PDF is ready, your phone’s share sheet opens: save it to Files, print it, or send it by mail or message. Tap Share or save to open it again, or Preview to look at it first. Neem doesn’t keep a copy, so save it if you want to find it later.
My period report looks empty
A periodic report only lists what happened in that period. When nothing new was recorded, it still shows your current skin profile and routine. Choose a longer period or the complete report to see everything.
05Routines and reminders
How do I set up a routine?
After a simulation, tap Set up my routine. Choose morning, evening or both, and follow the product’s recommendations or pick your own days. Your steps then appear on Home, where you can check them off.
I’m not getting reminders
- Make sure a reminder time is set for that routine (the bell on the routine screen).
- Check that notifications are on for Neem: Menu → Notifications opens your phone’s settings.
- Reminders only arrive on the days you use the product, and not while a routine is paused.
From a reminder you can snooze for 15 minutes or an hour.
Can I change or pause a routine?
Yes. Open the product on Home to edit its days, times and reminders, or pause it. Changes apply from today, and your past check-ins are kept.
06Neem AI assistant
What can the assistant do?
Open the Neem AI tab (Neem Plus). Type or speak your question about your skin, a product you scanned, your routine, today’s tasks or a past simulation: the assistant already knows them, so you don’t need to explain. It can also offer to start a simulation, pause or resume a routine, or tick off a task. Nothing happens until you tap Confirm on its card.
Can I speak instead of typing?
Yes. Tap the microphone in the message field and speak; your words appear as you talk, with a live wave. Tap ✓ when you’re done to place the text in the field, check it, then send it, or ✕ to cancel. The first time, allow the microphone (and speech recognition on iPhone). If voice input isn’t available, turn on Siri & Dictation in your iPhone’s settings, or Google’s speech services on Android. The same microphone is in the box where you describe your skin.
It asks me to scan a product
The assistant can only use products you have scanned and whose label could be read. Tap Scan a product, then ask again.
How do I save or clear a conversation?
Tap ⋯ at the top of the assistant. Save conversation keeps it in Saved conversations, which appears in the same menu once you have saved one. Clear conversation deletes a conversation you haven’t saved; a saved one stays in your saved list until you remove it.
How do I report something the AI made?
Everything Neem’s AI creates can be reported where you see it. Under an assistant reply, tap Report this reply. On a simulation, tap ⓘ, then Report a problem with this simulation. The timeline summary, skin profile, product analysis and relevance screens each have a Report a problem link at the bottom. Choose what’s wrong (for example inaccurate, unsafe or offensive), add a note if you like, and send: it goes straight to the Neem team.
It won’t answer my question
The assistant only answers questions about skincare and your Neem data. Its answers are general information, not medical advice: for a skin condition or a reaction to a product, see a dermatologist. There is also a daily message limit; if you reach it, try again the next day.
07Neem Plus and billing
What does Neem Plus include?
Up to 5 simulations in any 24 hours (each one frees up 24 hours after it starts; the menu and your profile show how many are left), the full Day 0 to Day 90 timeline with detailed insights for each concern, the Neem AI assistant, your Skincare Report (and the report of any single simulation) as a PDF, and comparing two simulations side by side. You can choose a monthly or yearly plan.
How do I cancel?
Neem Plus is billed through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel in your store account settings at least 24 hours before it renews. In the app, Profile → Manage subscription takes you there. Deleting the app or your Neem account doesn’t cancel the subscription.
I paid but don’t have Plus
Open Profile → Restore purchases while signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to pay. If it still doesn’t work, contact us with the date of purchase.
Refunds
Payments are handled by Apple or Google, so refunds are requested from them: through reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your Google Play order history.
08Account and privacy
I can’t sign in
Use the same option you signed up with (email, Apple or Google). With email, tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to reset it.
How old do I need to be?
You need to be 16 or older to use Neem. You confirm this when you create your account. See our Terms of Service.
How do I change the language or the appearance?
Open the menu: Language switches between English, French and Arabic, and Appearance between Light, Dark and System.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Delete account. Your account, skin profiles, scans, simulations, routines, assistant conversations and images are permanently deleted. If you signed in with Apple on iPhone, Apple asks you to confirm, so Neem’s Sign in with Apple access is removed too. Remember to cancel any subscription in your store account. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The app asks me to update
Your version of Neem is too old to keep working with our service. Tap Update Neem to open the App Store or Google Play, install the latest version, then open Neem again. Your account and simulations are unchanged.
Something went wrong and the app stopped
Tap Try again to restart Neem. We’re told about the problem automatically. If it keeps happening, use Menu → Report a problem or contact us.
